Indications:Itisindicatedfortherelifeofmoderatetoseverepain.Itcanalsobeindicatedasasupplementto balancedanesthesia,forpreoperativeandpostoperativeanelgesia,andforabstetricalanalgesiaduringlabor anddelivery. DosageandAdministration:Itisasterilesolutionsuitableforsubcutaneous,intramuscular,orintravenous injection. Theusualrecommendedadultdoseis10mgfora70kgindividual,thisdosemayberepeatedevery3to6hours asnecessary.Dosageshouldbeadjustedaccordingtotheseverityofthepain,physicalstatusofthepatient, andothermedicationswhichthepatientmaybereceiving.Innon-tolerantindividuals,therecommendedsingle maximumdoseis20mg,withamaximumtotaldailydoseof160mg. Whenasasupplementtobalancedanesthesiarequireslargerdosesthanthoserecommendedforanalgesia. Inductiondosesofanlbuphinehydrochloriderangefrom0.3mg/kgto3mg/kgintravenouslytobeadministered overa10to15minuteperiodwithmaintenancedosesof0.25to0.5mg/kginsingleintravenousadministrations asrequired.Theuseofnalbuphinehydrochloridemaybefollowedbyrespiratorydespressionwhichcanbe reversedwiththeopioidantagonistnaloxonehydrochloride.
